The Artist in Residence program at A to Z Wineworks offers a dynamic setting far from an artist’s usual surroundings and obligations. Reflection time and workspace are provided after participation in an initial harvest as an intern. The artists bring new ideas to the community and find fresh inspiration and stimulation. During the residency, the artist shares their art through talks, demonstrations, or experiential opportunities, as well as exhibiting their work.
Krystyny Vanderberg (MFA, Otis College of Art and Design), the current 2024 A to Z resident artist, works with painting and textiles. Central to her work are themes of community and identity and the difficulties in forming relationships. While working the 2023 harvest and continuing to learn about the history and craft of winemaking, she has connected with many people in the wine industry. She is making their shared love for wine and community the focus in her new work.
