This exhibition was open to Chehalem Cultural Center Studio users and students from the year 2023. All ages were allowed and encouraged to apply. Students could enter up to three artworks demonstrating the artistic behavior of "Artists Demonstrate Growth." This artistic behavior can be interpreted figuratively, spiritually, or metaphorically. It is up to the artist how their ceramic works demonstrate the artistic behavior. Some interpretations could be the exploration of vessel shape, the technicality of various glaze techniques, or the visual representation of growth.
Jurors: Sean Andres (CCC Executive Director), Pilar Swanson (Ceramic Studio Manager and Ceramic Artist), and Katie Spain (CCC Exhibitions Curator)
Prizes: Three student ceramicists (2023 ceramic residents not included) have been selected for judges' choice awards. The awardees are Katy Apple, Scott Deveau, and Janice Jones.
Our Featured Ceramicists: In an effort to expand our art offerings and support artists’ careers, this year we started something new at the Chehalem Cultural Center- the Chehalem Ceramic Studio Artist Residency. We hosted three artists for a month each, supporting them with materials, a studio space, a stipend, and the opportunity to host a public workshop. In a culmination of their efforts, we are celebrating their work in our annual ceramic exhibition. Our featured ceramic residents of 2023 were Sara Hensel, Darah Lundberg, and Erick Martinez.
