Call for Art: Wild Skies & Western Lands

The Chehalem Cultural Center is excited to host the exhibition, Wild Skies & Western Lands, and we invite you to apply! Works submitted for this exhibition should explore rural landscapes, countryside experiences, farming, and interactions with livestock and farm animals. This juried exhibition will select artworks to be exhibited for a two-month period.

Eligibility: This opportunity is open to artists, 18 years or older. Artists at any point in their careers are encouraged to apply. All mediums are allowed. 

Exhibition Timeline:

Application Opens: April 13th, 2025
Application Deadline: June 1st, 2025
Selection Announcement: June 5th, 2025
Artwork Drop off dates: June 17-19th, 2025
Exhibition Dates: June 24th - August 21, 2025
Artwork Pickup: August 22nd, 2025
Artist Reception and Award Announcements: August 1st, 2025, 5-7pm in the Parrish Gallery, 415 E. Sheridan St. Newberg OR 97213 

ARTWORK DETAILS:

  • Artists can submit up to three pieces of artwork that fit the exhibit’s theme.

  • All artworks must be original works made by the artist.

  • All mediums, sizes and styles of artwork are welcome.

  • All pieces will be juried based on originality, quality/craftsmanship.

  • Selected artworks will be exhibited in the Parrish Gallery for a two-month period (June 24th-August 21, 2025).

  • Selected works must be for sale and realistically priced.

  • The CCC will take a 40% commission from all sales.

  • A W-9 form will be required upon acceptance into the show.

  • Diptychs, Triptychs and Polyptychs are considered a single entry.

  • Images must be in a JPEG, PNG, or PDF format and should be titled accordingly: First_Last-shortened title-0x0x0in.

  • 3D artworks may submit up to three additional images of different views for each artwork. Please group 3D views in the image title with A, B, C indicators.

  • Works on paper must be framed, and all 2D work must be wired, and ready to
    hang. Other wall-hung artwork should be wired if possible.

HOW TO APPLY 

Please email galleries@chehalemculturalcenter.org the following information:

  1. Title the email “Applying for Wild Skies & Western Lands”

  2. In the body of the email please list your entrees as follows (up to three):

    1. Your name, title of artwork, medium, dimensions, year made

    2. Your name, title of artwork, medium, dimensions, year made

    3. Your name, title of artwork, medium, dimensions, year made

  3. Attach the images of your artwork to the email. Images must be in a JPEG, PNG, or PDF format and the file should be titled accordingly: FirstName_LastName_shortened title. 

Ex: Kelly_Smith_BeautyEverywhere.jpeg

  1. By submitting your artwork via email, you are agreeing that you have read over the call for art, and understand the exhibition timeline and requirements. 

In addition to the programming that the Chehalem Cultural Center offers, we provide rental space for many public events that are put on by community organizations and organizers.  If  an event that is happening in our building is not on our website, it is likely that the event is put on by an organization renting our space for their event.  For information regarding these events, please contact the organizers.
