“I just want to say my son came home everyday with a huge smile on his face and so many stories of his favorite things from the day…Thank you so much for the memorable summer fun.”
— Parent of a CCC Summer Camp Scholarship Student
At the Chehalem Cultural Center, we firmly believe that finances should never be a barrier to anyone experiencing art. That’s why, since art classes were first offered at the CCC, no scholarship request has ever been denied. This continues to be our commitment to our community and, with your help, one we intend to keep.
In fact, since 2021 the CCC has given out $77,000 in scholarships to 678 students in our community.
We do this because:
Participating in arts programs shows significant improvement in conflict resolution, future orientation, critical response, and career readiness.*
Participants most involved in cultural activities are 50 percent more likely to be involved in other (non-arts) community activities and are more than twice as likely to volunteer.*
Participating in the visual arts for as little as 10-weeks has been shown to increase the resiliency and neural connectivity of the brain, making for increased self-awareness and better memory processing*
9 out of 10 say the arts increase their connection to community*
“I have so much gratitude for the CCC because of the scholarships available which help me access such a life-giving practice and awesome community.”
